Whatever your feelings are about billionaires, we doubt many would turn down the chance to live like one – at least for one night. Well, you’re in luck, there’s now a Boeing 727 Airliner in Brislington (built in 1968) with its original 1980s private jet interior. And it’s being described as the ‘world’s coolest Airbnb’.
Bristol’s history with the aviation world is well-documented, but if you want to learn more about that, go to Aerospace Bristol. This soaring opportunity is all about offering the luxury lifestyle – complete with walnut panelling, gold details and glittering crystals. It’s a completely unique experience many of us wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford.
“The contrast – billionaire and real life – is actually really healthy to people,” recently said the Airbnb’s owner, Johnny Palmer. “There have been many rumours about who the previous owners of the jet were – including an Arab prince and the Mafia. Someone said that Pablo Escobar might have owned it for a while.”

Originally built for Japan Airlines, it was converted into a private jet in 1981 before a final flight in 2012. The Boeing 727 Airliner Private Jet on Airbnb won’t be taking off again – no transatlantic flights to New York, I’m afraid – but can still fit up to four guests, with a king-sized bed, two single beds, two lounge spaces, three toilets, a shower, a full kitchen and a fully-fitted cockpit.
The aircraft doesn’t have wings or an engine, but working features include the airstairs, lighting, and cockpit lights. You are encouraged to play around with the plane’s many switches and buttons controlling the complex lighting system, and really feel like you’re flying in the clouds. This makes it perfect for kids, but big kids too. Outside there’s a large decked area with a hot tub and an outdoor shower mounted underneath.

The Boeing 727 is mounted on top of ISO shipping containers at Skyline Park, an industrial estate in Brislington. The location is described as “very quiet at the weekends, but during office hours there are deliveries in the adjacent yard.” That does mean there isn’t a great deal around within walking distance – but there’s a Co-Op about ten minutes away, while Hop Union Brewery has a taproom on site.
A night in the ‘world’s coolest Airbnb’ could cost you anywhere from £250 to £850 during peak summer months. The unusual stay could soon be dwarfed by a much bigger and more impressive second plane very soon, with a pre-application submitted last month. You can learn more by heading here.
