These pizza specials are also for a worthy cause.
Many of us have learnt our local takeaway menu off by heart now but one local restaurant that is changing their menu up, and for a good cause, is Bertha’s. The makers of unreal sourdough pizza in Bristol made a pretty cool announcement for 2021.
In an Instagram post, Bertha’s wrote: “We’re collaborating with Bristol’s finest independents on a range of specials that’ll be available for collection only watch this space for pizzas from Box-E, Wilson’s, The Ethicurean & Wilding Cider.” Alongside an awesome set of specials, with a new one launching every two weeks, Bertha’s in Bristol are also donating £5 from all pizza orders over £25 to FareShare South West which funds one of their grocery boxes designed to feed a family for a week.
Their latest offering is collection only as the pizza restaurant stated that delivery platforms take a cut of up to 30% and Bertha’s believed money could be better spent to help those more in need. Bertha’s said: “Collect yourself, chances are you’ll deliver it on time and the right way up. The number of people struggling to feed themselves is on the increase, we’re supporting Fareshare South West to do something about it.”
So far, Bertha’s have collaborated with Box-E to create a pizza with a truffled white base, buttered leeks, confit duck egg and Cornish Gouda, as well as Wilson’s with pizza topped with passata, crab XO, burrata and Belmont Estate pork fat. We are also expecting some delicious collaborations with Wilding Cider, which is likely to include a cider pairing, as well as The Ethicurean who use a lot of local, seasonal ingredients.
The pizza specials are available from the Wapping Wharf restaurant from 5pm on Thursday to Saturday. Bertha’s also post how many meals have been funded from collection orders, and the restaurant reported 3,270 meals funded through FareShare South West during the month of January. Their third pizza collaboration, which is with Wilding Cider, is expected to start from February 4, so keep your eyes peeled for their special toppings.
