It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… Eagle-eyed visitors will surely have spotted hints of the return of the Bristol Christmas Market over on Broadmead. But there are plenty of local Christmas markets to enjoy around Bristol and the South West. You’re about to be overwhelmed with more twinkly lights, Christmas trees and Alpine stalls than you can imagine. So why not embrace the festivities now, while you can? They’ll be gone before you know it!
1. Bristol Christmas Market
We have to start with the biggest and, arguably, the best. The return of Bristol Christmas Market (November 3) means we can happily treat ourselves to mulled wine, bratwurst sausages and delicious Yorkshire pudding wraps every day. While of course shopping for lovely Christmas presents, like snow globes, decorative baubles and handmade wooden toys.
It won’t wrap up until December 23 – an incredible 51 days of non-stop Christmas shopping – offerings of over 50 festive stalls packed full of one-of-a-kind gifts and festive treats. This year’s market expands to Quakers Friars too! Returning this year are the Jäger Barn Bar, Christmas Igloos and Ski Gondolas, and a dazzling 30ft Christmas tree!
New this year, however, is a 15m high Ferris wheel, plus a candy-themed escape room and a reindeer sleigh ride, as well as two large snow machines guaranteeing Bristol has a white Christmas. Throughout the seven weeks, guests will also be able to immerse themselves in plenty of live entertainment, with multiple appearances from Santa himself and Christmas choirs.

2. Bath Christmas Market
Bristol is not the only South West city to have one of the UK’s best Christmas markets. On for a much shorter time (November 23 to December 10), Bath Christmas Market is no less lovely. Immensely popular, and limited to a shorter run because of it, these Georgian streets will be filled with adorable wooden huts and some of the city’s best local businesses selling their wares. There’s also a cracking hog roast to be had, making this market one to circle on your calendar.

3. Christmas at St Nick’s Markets
Sharing a name with Father Christmas himself, it’s only fitting that St Nicholas Market embraces the festive tradition. Yes, the indoor markets will mostly be selling their usual fare – with over 60 stalls, you’re still bound to find some brilliant Christmas gifts, such as fashion items, accessories, books, records, as well as food. But from December 14 to Christmas Eve, the Christmas-themed outdoor markets will be seeing unique handmade crafts and delicious street food.

4. Sustainable Christmas Pop-Up Market
Future Leap continues to support indie sellers with its monthly pop-up markets this Christmas. Head down to Gloucester Road, from December 21 to 23, to find a diverse range of alternative sellers and incredible products.
