Bristol has many stereotypes and, fortunately or unfortunately (depending on how you see it), most of them a true. But there’s one that rings truer than the rest, and that’s what we all love cider—why do you think there are so many cider pubs everywhere? So there’s obviously nowhere better to build “the Oktoberfest of cider” than in Bristol.
Cider Week is set to launch this summer in Bristol as a city-wide, nine-day celebration of craft cider and perry (July 25 to August 3). Kicking off proceedings in style will be a huge opening party aboard the SS Great Britain. Here, you can raise a glass to the Cider Capital of the World and welcome the launch of Bristol Cider Week.
You can expect meet-the-maker cider tasting sessions, eight pours of craft cider, fine cheese from local producers, as well as explore the SS Great Britain after hours. But this is far from the only highlight at Bristol Cider Week, which will feature many parties, tastings, dinners, talks and workshops alongside a city-wide Cider Trail.
Cider City’s cider trail encompasses many of Bristol’s most iconic venues, but also combines with a city centre block party on King Street. The party kicks off on July 26 & 27 with special releases, tap takeovers, music and festivities along the historic street—while the official Cider City bar at Bristol Old Vic will showcase some of the UK’s most exciting new ciders.
Meanwhile, Cider Salon at the Trinity Centre offers an afternoon of fine cider exploration on August 2. With a range of styles—including bottle-fermented, pet nat, rural method, keeved, cryo-concentrated, co-fermented, and more—try around 90 fine ciders and perrys. Plus, meet more than 30 cider makers, enthusiasts and experts, before an official Cider Salon Afterparty at The Orchard Inn.
