It’s been a long, tough summer. What was meant to be a chilled few months has left us sore and sad thanks to a mixing of mentally and physically taxing activities – camping, festivals, holidays, football, etc. etc. We need somewhere to relax and, thankfully, Bristol’s new community sauna quietly opened over the summer.
For anyone interested in an affordable spa day, hidden in the garden of St Anne’s House is the creatively titled Bristol Community Sauna – a 14-person, locally-built traditional Finnish sauna. It’s been open since June, but has spent the past few “ironing out all of our processes and systems.”
For a 75-minute session, it costs £10 and comes with two cooled and filtered cold water plunges and three cold showers to use afterwards – so you can finally find out what all this Wim Hof fuss is about. If you intend on coming more than three times a month, membership costs only £15 a month and with £5 sessions.

What is there to do at St Anne’s House?
If you’re in the area, you might as well make the most of this creative and community hub. St Anne’s House is home to hundreds of tenants including Bristol Cooperative Gym (which is a gym run by its own members), Cibomatto Canteen community cafe, and Mayking Space (a rehearsal and development space dedicated to artists making live performances).
There’s also an endless array of events and activities always happening at St Anne’s House. You’ll find everything from pub quizzes to film screenings, pop-up taprooms and exhibitions (check out the Bristol Photo Festival kicking off on October 16 – 20). There are even niche events like banjo workshops to breastfeeding support groups because it’s the community that shapes it Keep an eye out for open days too!
After things to do with kids? Every Tuesday, St Anne’s House hosts free open access sessions for 13+ year-olds (from in and around Brislington) to try new creative activities – past sessions include film-making, graffiti, campfire cooking, and more.
