A Dazzling Candlelight Tribute To Iconic Divas Of Jazz Is Coming To Bristol

A captivating Candlelight Jazz concert is set to enchant Bristol this November.

Dress up in your best outfit and give your record player the night off; this evening of live jazz will have toes tapping and shoulders swaying long after the last note is played. On November 17 the industrial architecture of Bristol’s Paintworks Event Space will be illuminated by a sea of candles and filled with the music of legendary Jazz divas such as Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan. Candlelight Jazz: The Divas of Jazz is an unmissable tribute to the sensational vocalists who shaped the genre.

Like sinking into a warm bath, the smooth sounds of jazz will envelop you as soon as you settle into your seat. This is thanks to the talents of a jazz band and dulcet-toned singer: Aretha Gold with Celestine. The Bristolian musicians deliver a magical performance that takes you through the timeless classics of these beloved jazz divas. You won’t be able to resist shimmying along as a haunting rendition of ‘Feeling Good’ gets into full swing or close your eyes as the romantic melodies of ‘At Last’ bless your ears.

To sweeten the already tempting deal there is a fully-stocked bar. It is a great excuse to live out your smoky jazz club fantasies; sipping a rich red wine or mixing it up with a refreshing pink G&T as the classics are played. Plus, if you’re peckish, there are nibbles such as chorizo bites, olives and popcorn.

There are two time slots to pick from: 6pm and 8pm. The hour-and-a-half concert could be the perfect prelude to a romantic night out or a sweet surprise for a fellow jazz lover after digging into dinner. The atmospheric ambience conjured by the candles makes the concert truly unique and with only one date on the cards, you’ll want to snap up tickets quick.
