Following the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII, it became a cathedral. This season, the historic cathedral is opening its centuries-old doors to the enchanting Candlelight concerts, which will lend a golden glow to the Grade I listed building.

Parts of the church were destroyed during a 1940 bombing and it wasn’t until the 1960s that the current structure was built under the direction of architect Robert Potter. The nave has a free standing altar set under a ciborium and the the beautiful surrounding windows are all intricate stained-glass work.
