Yes, many coffee shops are dog-friendly, but not like this they aren’t. Inspired by founder James Shaplan’s labrador and his love of coffee, Coffi Lab was born to be “beautiful, open venues” in leafy neighbourhoods that are perfect for every pooch stepping through its doors.
The first Coffi Lab opened in Monmouth (Wales) in 2021, with eight more opening since – including Abergavenny, Marlborough and Portishead – but the newest Coffi Lab is coming to Bristol next month. Opening on Saturday, March 8, it’s taking over the former Lloyds Bank on the corner of Gloucester Road and Dongola Avenue.
“Our crew are busy putting the finishing touches on this beautiful old bank,” said a spokesperson for Coffi Lab. “From our roasters to our bakers to our baristas, we’re all incredibly excited to join the neighbourhood and open the doors for exceptional coffee from Soil to Sip.”
The Horfield Lab, as it’s being called, will offer its very own small batch coffee – roasted in Cardiff – as well as toasties, pastries, sandwiches and more. Plus, it’s got handmade dog biscuits for your pooches. Most of all, this dog-friendly coffee shop offers somewhere spacious and welcoming for your furry friends. Puppicino, anyone?
Like its other locations, Coffi Lab will also raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind, with every Lab sponsoring its own dog through training school. How effing cute is that? So far, it’s raised over £80,000 through dog biscuit sales, opening day takings and unique challenge days.
