It is often wrongly believed that humans worshipped cats in Ancient Egypt. We sometimes wonder if our future ancestors will look back at our relationship with dogs and think something similar. But would they be wrong? Not if DogFest is anything to go by.
All hail this dog-friendly festival, which looks like the ulti-mutt celebration of our lovely pooches. DogFest comes to Ashton Court this September and is an absolute must for all dog lovers and their fuzzy friends. With over 100 shopping stands and plenty of fun-filled activities for furry family members, there’s seemingly no end to excitement either.
On September 2 & 3, Bristol’s dog owners can take their pooches along to a range of activities in Ashton Court. This includes everything from dog diving to haybale racing and, new this year, Catch the Flag – which sees dogs chase a mechanised lure. So if your doggo is just a big ball of fur, cuteness and energy, DogFest is undoubtedly the place for you.
Don’t worry if your dog likes a slower pace of life, however, there are plenty of quieter activities for them too. Like the Big Dog Walk where you can enjoy a stroll around the beautiful grounds of the stately home. Or enter your pooches into ManyPets Fun Dog Show and compete in categories such as Best Rescue, Most Fabulous Fella, and Loveliest Lady. Plus, attend breed meet-ups, where owners are encouraged to swap stories, share notes, and take photos.
Other activities include puppy training classes, grooming stations, and an action-packed main arena with demonstrations from talented canines and trainers, including Sandra & Storm, the UK Dog Disc champions. Plenty of food and drink stalls also mean neither you nor your furry friend goes hungry throughout the day – check out the doggy ice cream!
DogFest fan and television presenter Michaela Strachan is also back this year, saying: “I absolutely love DogFest, everyone I’ve been to has been such a fun day out, I can’t wait to be back again. Being surrounded by dogs of all different shapes and sizes in stunning grounds is definitely something I look forward to. So, I’ll see you there for The Big Dog Walk, entertainment, yummy food, stalls, shows, advice, plenty of wagging tails, wet noses and so much more.”
So much is happening at DogFest, you’re truly spoilt for choice. But don’t forget to spoil your dogs either, with hundreds of vendors where you can pamper and treat your furry babies. Tickets for DogFest start from just £20 and can be purchased here.
