It is often wrongly believed that humans worshipped cats in Ancient Egypt. We sometimes wonder if our future ancestors will look back at our relationship with dogs and think something similar – but would they be wrong? Not if DogFest is anything to go by.
All hail this dog-friendly festival, which looks like the ulti-mutt celebration of our lovely pooches. DogFest returns to Ashton Court on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1. This year, the festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary and is an absolute must-attend for all dog lovers and their fuzzy friends across the country.
Starting as a small gathering for dog lovers in 2014, DogFest has evolved into a must-attend event for famous faces and furry friends alike, from across the UK. Every year, a lineup of activities aims to celebrate the unique bond between humans and their canine companions – whether it’s heart-warming displays of canine companionship or adrenaline-pumping activities. DogFest is more than just a festival. It’s a celebration of the “unconditional love that dogs bring into our lives.”
Promising a weekend filled with world-class displays from top canine athletes, free expert advice and plenty of activities to participate in, this family-friendly event is open to both dog-owners and dog lovers from Bristol and beyond. There will also be experts at the event, hosting activities and sessions throughout the day, including Britain’s Got Talent finalist, Lucy Heath, This Morning’s resident dog expert, Chloe Fuller, and accredited dog behaviourist, Adem Fehmi.
Other highlights of DogFest include the ever-popular Big Dog Walk; dog dancing with 2023 ‘Crufts’ winner Nicci Hindson and her dog Elsa; and The Action Arena, where fast-paced, canine demonstrations and competitions from some of the world’s top teams will take place. Plus, activities like hay bale racing, catch the flag, and fun dog shows – with categories such as Best Rescue, Most Fabulous Fella, and Loveliest Lady.
CEO and Founder of DogFest, Nicole Cooper said: “We can’t wait to bring DogFest back to Bristol for its 10th year! Over the years we’ve seen soggy doggies take the plunge in our Dog Diving activities, crowned countless winners in our Fun Dog Shows, and collectively walked the equivalent of Lands End to John O’Groats – all in the name of celebrating our beloved companions.”
“Whether you’re a dog owner or dog lover, we can’t wait to celebrate the festival’s anniversary with the people of Bristol. We’ll be singing Happy Birthday to DogFest on both days at 12pm. Come and watch a star-studded performance of The Greatest Show!”
Also, remember to pamper and treat your furry babies with hundreds of vendors. There’s so much happening at DogFest that we can’t list it all, but know if your doggo is a big ball of fur, cuteness and energy, then this is the event for you. Entry to DogFest starts at £21 a ticket for an adult, but it’s free entry for dogs – these can be purchased here.
