If you’re looking for all the exciting thrills and spills of a theme park, your choices in and around Bristol are limited. But nothing comes close to the head-spinning rides of Thorpe Park or Alton Towers. That is, until, once a year, Funderworld sets up on Durdham Downs to bring unlimited rides, rollercoasters and fairground favourites to the South West.
Landing on the Downs from Friday, April 4, to Monday, May 5 (Closed April 22-23 and 28-30), ‘Britain’s best mobile theme park’ brings over 30 rides and attractions – and you can enjoy them all across four hours of unlimited riding. Have a ride on everything from the brand-new Red Devil, which loops in random trajectories, to fairground classics like the Waltzer, Dodgem Cars and the Sizzler.
You should also check out new attractions like the Super Trooper, Stealth BuzzBomb and Haunted House, while classics like the Freefall Miami and Airmaxx return. Meanwhile, little ones will love the huge selection of children’s rides – Tea Cup & Saucers, Flying Mini Jets, Crazy Jungle Funhouse, Race O Rama, among them – and giant inflatables available.
And, open until 9 pm every night, it’s not just about thrill-seeking at Funderworld either. Try out a range of classic funfair games, and fill up on tasty theme park-style food – from foot-long hot dogs to candy floss and slush puppies. Now that we’ve been blessed with some warm-ish weather in Bristol, it couldn’t have come at a better time!
How much does Funderworld cost?
There are three price points to know about when visiting Funderworld. To be able to experience EVERYTHING, the ‘Ultimate Thrills’ entrance will cost £22 at the gate (advance online £20). There are, however, two cheaper options. A more limited ‘Adventurer Fun’ entrance for £17 (online £15) and ‘Tiny Thrills’ entrance for £12 (online £10).
