If you’re looking for all the exciting thrills and spills of a theme park, your choices in and around Bristol are limited. But nothing comes close to the head-spinning rides of Thorpe Park or Alton Towers. That is, until whenever Funderworld decides to bring its roller coasters, fairground favourites and inflatable attractions to the South West.
Landing on Durdham Downs from Friday, July 25, to Sunday, August 17, ‘Britain’s best mobile theme park’ launches its Festival of Summer. With all rides starting from £2, have a go on everything from the Red Devil, which loops in random trajectories, to fairground classics like the Waltzer, Dodgem Cars and the Sizzler.

But make sure to check out the beach area. Grab a cocktail from the fully licensed tiki bar and get comfy in a deck chair, while the kids make a splash at the FREE urban beach and splash pool—so forget about visiting Weston-super-Mare, or Celedon, because Bristol now has its very own beach. And the fun doesn’t stop there!
Elsewhere, discover highlights like a massive 50-metre obstacle course, a Kids Zone bursting with oversized games, and bungee tampoline, and Water Walkers that will test your ability to balance. Also check out favourites like the Caterpillar, Freefall, Runaway Train and more. Plus, a vibrant Food Village will be serving up everything from crepes to hot dogs to slushies.
How much does Funderworld cost?
Open from 1 to 9 pm, every day, Funderworld’s Festival of Summer costs just £2 per person to enter (under 2s free), while most of the rides are £2 each, though there are a few for £4—including the Bumper Carz, Bungee Tampoline, Obstacle Course, Water Walkers and Water Pedalos. The Urban Beach and Splash Pool is free for all to use. To learn more, head here.
