Ice skating at Christmas is a postcard image. Wrapping up warm, gliding to Xmas tunes, the thought alone gives us festive feelings – which is why we’re so happy that the UK’s “largest undercover winter ice rink” has returned near Bristol, Icescape Tropicana.
This major Christmas attraction in Weston-super-Mare reopened last winter after four years off, thanks to a combination of COVID-19 and high energy costs, but attracted thousands on its return. Icescape Tropicana is pulling out all the stops for its grand reopening (November 1) – with three free-to-watch performances to catch, including from pro skater and silver medallist at the British Championships, Harry Mattick.
But why just watch? You could also be the first on the ice with a 2-for-1 offer for the 7 pm and 8 pm skate slots. If you can’t make it, you have until January 5 to skate away. Up to 400 skaters every day will get the chance to skate the day away. Skate sessions are 45 minutes long, with tickets starting from £12 for adults – but you can enjoy a skate half-price with a friend on 2-4-1 Tuesdays.
The ice rink isn’t the only attraction heading to the former lido/current event space, Tropicana. Not only is Icescape home to a range of festive food and drink – like Yorkshire pudding wraps, mulled wine and hot chocolate – but there are also a few rides for little ones to enjoy. Including a Christmas roller coaster, bumper cars and bungee trampolines.
For a Christmassy ice skating experience like no other – on real ice too – make the trip to the seaside this festive season. Sessions are available to book every hour from 10am to 8pm. To learn more about Icescape Tropicana and to book a session head here.
