It’s an odd name, The Mount Without, thought to come from the fact that it was built outside of the city’s walls back in the early 12th century. These days, this once-abandoned church is at the centre of Bristol’s creative scene – hosting everything from music performances to art exhibitions and, now, the inaugural programme from Bristol’s leading contemporary dance company, IMPERMANENCE.
There are a total of six dance and theatre productions transforming The Mount Without for the Spring / Summer 2025 (Tuesday, March 4 to Thursday, July 10). There’s a new show every month, from internationally renowned choreographers, tackling themes of dark fantasy to spiritual poetry to female sexuality. And it all kicks off with CRASHOUT – a groundbreaking solo performance by Marikiscrycrycry.

IMPERMANENCE’s directors Roseanna Anderson and Joshua Ben-Tovim, have curated a season of diverse choreographic voices and innovative approaches. This is “the largest and most dynamic dance programme the city has seen in decades”, reinforcing the company’s commitment to providing a platform for cutting-edge work.
“The season isn’t just about showcasing incredible dance,” said Joshua Ben-Tovim. “It’s about creating a space for transformative ideas to thrive, for artists to push boundaries and for audiences to engage with something truly special. CRASHOUT sets the tone for what’s to come.”
