How has this never happened before? New Zealand popstar Lorde will perform for the first time in the city of Bristol this summer. Headlining a special outdoor concert on Friday, August 28, 2026, on Clifton Downs, she will be joined by Stranger Things’ actor Joe Keery’s Djo (“And when I’m back in Chicago, I feel it.”)
Lorde, a defining voice of modern pop, having captivated global audiences with her visionary songwriting, emotional depth and genre-shaping sound, will perform the day before the main FORWARDS 2026 music festival, which also takes place on the Clifton Downs on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30.
From the groundbreaking Pure Heroine to the expansive worlds of Melodrama and Solar Power, expect a transcendent live performance and a rare, exceptional occasion, marking her first appearance in the city. Lorde will also be joined by a dynamic bill of artists like Audrey Hobert, Rose Gray, Esha Tewari and Grove.
“Announcing Lorde is an incredibly exciting moment for us,” says Tom Paine, co-founder of Team Love. “Building on the spirit of FORWARDS, we’re excited to bring Bristol another world-class musician and experience across the bank holiday weekend. Welcoming Lorde to the city feels like the perfect way to begin. She’s an extraordinary artist, and this promises to be a truly special night for Bristol.”
If Lorde’s concert wasn’t enough, Djo, aka musician and beloved Stranger Things actor Joe Keery, will bring his psychedelic pop blend of indie rock, synth-pop, and art pop. His breakout single ‘End of Beginning’ recently reached No. 1 in the UK, and he has quickly carved out a space that feels both nostalgic and forward-thinking.
