From star-studded ensembles to old favourites returning, here’s everything worth a worth on Netflix UK this November.
Blockbuster, November 3
Timmy Yoon (Randall Park) is an analog dreamer in a 5G world. He’s spent his entire adult life dedicated to his first love, movies — a passion that’s kept him at his first and only job, managing his hometown Blockbuster Video. Then Timmy is alarmed to learn that his store is officially the last Blockbuster in America- luckily for us Mancs we can head to Blockbuster NQ for a dose of nostalgia. He now has no choice but to take action to stay open and keep his friends employed. Timmy and his staff quickly come to realize that being home to the last Blockbuster might actually be exactly what their community needs to rekindle the human connections they lost to the digital age. Enola Holmes 2, November 4
Fresh off the triumph of solving her first case, Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) follows in the footsteps of her famous brother, Sherlock (Henry Cavill), and opens her own agency — only to find that life as a female detective-for-hire isn’t as easy as it seems. Resigned to accepting the cold realities of adulthood, she is about to close shop when a penniless matchstick girl offers Enola her first official job: to find her missing sister. Zac is back and boy have some of us missed him. In this new season, Zac Efron travels around Australia with wellness expert Darin Olien in search of healthy, sustainable ways to live. The hosts bring viewers to beautiful locales where they seek out sustainable practices in a way that is both educational and enlightening, embracing local food, culture and customs throughout their journey. The Wonder, November 16
In 1862, 13 years after the Great Famine, an English Nightingale Nurse Lib Wright (Florence Pugh) is called to the Irish Midlands by a devout community to conduct a 15-day examination over one of their own. Anna O’Donnell (Kíla Lord Cassidy) is an 11-year-old girl who claims not to have eaten for four months, surviving miraculously on “manna from heaven”. Christmas With You, November 17
Without a return of another sequel of The Princess Switch, Netflix is providing us with plenty of festive romantic films to add a little sparkle as we approach Christmas with Christmas With You. Feeling career burn out (can you relate?), pop star Angelina escapes to grant a young fan’s wish in small town New York, where she not only finds the inspiration to revitalize her career but also a shot at true love. Directed by one of the biggest names in spooky films, Tim Burton, the series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s (Jenna Ortega) attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore. Big names in this series include Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams and Gwendoline Christie as Principal Larissa Weems. Stream it from November 23rd.
