If you’re looking for some of the best pizza in Bristol, then our go-to shout is often the Bristol-based Pizzarova. Wherever you are in the city, from Gloucester Road to North Street to Park Street, you’re never far from a perfect pie. (There used to be a site at Wapping Wharf too, but Bertha’s Pizza is helping fill a hole by the harbour.) Soon those in Clifton can grab a slice of the Pizzarova action too.
From November 28, those in the BS8 community will have their very own Pizzarova to tuck into on Whiteladies Road. The new venue will feature the familiar Pizzarova-style open kitchen, offering a simple eat-in and takeaway menu for lunch and dinner, from Thursday to Sunday. Using a 70-year-old starter, a slowly fermented sourdough gives these puffed-up pizza crusts their distinct and moreish taste.
Just some of their beloved pizza creations include the margherita deluxe, which is ultra-cheesy thanks to extra mozzarella and has a little kick from chilli flakes; and the double chorizo and hot honey for that perfect sweet and salty combo. Bristol’s vegan should also be taken care of, with a homemade vegan nduja, with toasted sunflower seed pesto and vegan cheese pizza.
“Whiteladies Road is such a lively corner of Bristol, like with all our spots here in Bristol, we want to get involved in the local community and spend some time getting to know the locals,” said Jack Lander, Pizzarova Managing Director. “I’m really pleased with the work we’ve done in the fit out, to uncover and keep as many of the features of the building as we can whilst keeping our environmental impact to a minimum.”
If you’re new to Pizzarova, don’t expect some fancy eatery. Everything is served in pizza boxes and there’s no cutlery to grab. This is pizza to be picked up and eaten with your hands. The best kind if you ask us! There is also a variety of locally sourced drinks available, including beers, wines, mixers and soft drinks. And if you’ve got room for pudding afterwards, grab a pistachio cannoli (or two).
Turning 10 this year, Pizzarova started back in 2013, serving pizza to family, friends and festival-goers out of the back of a Land Rover fitted with a pizza oven. The original Land Rover Defender is still a part of the team, catering for weddings, festivals and gatherings. It launched its first restaurant on Gloucester Road in 2015 and hasn’t looked back since.
To celebrate the launch of Pizzarova on Whiteladies Road, a variety of discounts and competitions will be available via their social media accounts. You’ll find the new restaurant at 113 Whiteladies Road, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 2PB.
