Spring is here and summer is on the way, which means rooftop bars and alfresco dining is on everyone’s minds. But can you wait until 2024 to enjoy a cocktail or two with views overlooking the harbour and Millennium Square? Plans for a new rooftop bar and restaurant on Bristol Harbourside have been recently revealed.
Currently home to Rainbow Casino, Lane 7, Locked in a Room and BrewDog, plans would remodel the building to feature an outdoor food and drink venue. It would insert a mezzanine floor into the building, allowing access to an exterior pergola bar and dining space. Meanwhile an existing outdoor area on top of the building would also be redesigned to create an accessible roof terrace and garden.
First revealed last year and following a public consultation in December, Canada Life Asset Management has now submitted proposals for the new rooftop bar and restaurant next to Bristol harbourside to Bristol City Council. Some alterations were made to the initial plans, however, with the addition of an extra acoustic screening and an upgrade to a ‘green roof’.
While there’s no guarantee it will be given the go ahead yet – Bristol City Council will provide further opportunities for consultation soon before making a final decision. But if approved, we can expect work to begin on the new rooftop bar and restaurant on Bristol Harbourside in October this year, ready to open for next year’s summer in June.
