It feels like summer’s barely begun and we’re already talking about it ending. At the very least, Bristol’s much-loved, go-to spot by the harbour for food, drink and vibes knows how to throw a party – as proven by last year’s celebrations of the long-awaited Gaol Ferry Bridge reopening.
To commemorate the occasion, Wapping Wharf is throwing a huge free evening of entertainment on the harbourside to mark the end of summer. Always home to an eclectic mix of independent shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and more, Many businesses on Bristol’s iconic waterfront will be pulling out all the stops on Friday, September 6.
“Last year’s celebrations to mark the reopening of the bridge were such a huge success that we’ve been talking about hosting another one ever since,” said Stuart Hatton, managing director at Umberslade. “We had so much incredible feedback, along with people asking when the next event at Wapping Wharf would be, that we figured it was about time for another party!
“Wapping Wharf is home to such an incredible community of independent businesses, and with a lot of new additions to our group of retailers over the last year, we wanted to celebrate everything that makes our area of Bristol so special, and offer a bit of a thank you to all of our customers who have supported us over the years.”
From 5pm, Wapping Wharf’s End of Summer Party invites everyone for live music, kids entertainment, food and drink and late-night shopping. Local drumming troupe Batida Bristol will kick off the celebrations, with more music from local favourites The Ambling Band later on in the evening. There will also be face painting and walkabout entertainment for little ones, while many of the independent retailers will be open late.
