Brunch is the perfect meal on a hangover. Mainly because you can basically wake up anytime (well, sometime between 8am and 4pm) and tuck into anything from shakshuka to avocado on toast, a full English or Turkish eggs, and call it brunch. As long as there are eggs, it must contain eggs, and no one gets this better than The Crafty Egg.
A lifesaver on Stokes Croft to St Pauls’ residents and beyond, this trendy cafe is all about egg-cellent brunch dishes – with vegan options too, of course. The menu consists of all manners of breakfasts, brunches, bagels and baked eggs. With rustic decor, a cosy atmosphere and houseplants potted everywhere, it’s got bags of charm too.
But change is afoot at this quirky hotspot – but don’t worry, your eggs are going nowhere. After conquering brunch, The Crafty Egg is coming after dinner. It is now open in the evenings, from Wednesday through Saturday, serving up small plates. “Our talented chefs have curated a menu designed to foster a cozy and relaxed atmosphere,” The Crafty Egg said on Instagram.
Its new small plates menu includes some exciting dishes too. Such as pan-fried bavette steak; miso-glazed aubergine; fried harissa chicken thighs; grilled squid with preserved lemon aioli; salt baked beetroot; and grilled leeks topped with fried crushed almonds. Plus more!
The Crafty Egg is also now offering a variety of cocktails, local spirits, and cracking local beers, including selections from Arbor, Wiper & True, and Bristol Beer Factory. So, like many who have been using this spot as a daytime hangout, expect to find us chilling here in the evenings from now on. Meanwhile, the cafe’s sister site over in Fishponds will be getting an expanded evening menu very soon too.
