Watch Christmas Classic ‘The Snowman’ With A Live Orchestra At Bristol Beason This Friday

If we had to choose one Christmas film to summarise the festive feeling, we’d have to pick The Snowman. Based on Raymond Briggs’s 1978 picture book of the same name – and featuring the iconic song ‘Walking in the Air’ – it tells the story of a young boy who builds a large snowman that comes to life. The Snowman captures the magic of Christmas in ways very few have been able to replicate.

But you’ll be able to watch it this festive season in a way you’ve, likely, never before. This Friday (December 8), the BAFTA-winning hit will be accompanied by a live orchestra at Bristol Beacon. As well as some young local soloists (Carys Weidner and Scarlett Ryerson will be singing Walking in the Air), there’ll even be a visit from the Snowman himself.

But that’s not all, because Carrot Productions is also screening the Academy Award-winning Aardman film Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers, also accompanied by some of the country’s top musicians. There will be two shows throughout the day at the recently reopened venue (1.30pm and 6.30pm) as part of this brand-new national tour.

After each performance, the audiences, young and adult alike, will be invited to meet the world-acclaimed musicians in their outstanding costumes and learn about their musical instruments. Carrot Productions has staged over 350 Snowman shows to date, drawing musicians from institutions like the Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Concert and the London Symphony Orchestra.
