Bristol has gone sauna mad. From a city farm to a former wildlife park, the healthy hedonism craze is everywhere—and up next, it’s on its way to the city’s iconic the Floating Harbour. The UK’s first sauna boats, Skuna Boats, will pop up in Bristol for just four weeks this winter.
Inspired by Scandinavian traditions, unwind in an electric stoved sauna, soaking up panoramic harbour views, from Friday, November 21, to Sunday, December 14. With two sauna boats to choose from, one will permanently dock at the Bristol Amphitheatre as a community sauna, while the other will be available for hire, sailing up and down the water.

The all-electric sauna boats—blending heat and cold-plunge therapy with the tranquillity of Bristol’s waterways—will be open Thursday to Sunday each week from 12pm to 8:30pm. Each session will last approximately 75 minutes, with up to 6 guests at a time. Just remember to bring swimwear and a towel!
“We’re thrilled to bring Skuna Boats to Bristol,” CEO and Founder Stuart ‘Tommo’ Thomson said. “This city’s vibrant culture and love for the water make it the perfect home for our floating saunas. We’re excited to offer a new way for people to relax, recharge, and connect with the harbour in a new way.

“Our sauna boats blend novel fun with genuine wellbeing benefits, and there’s something truly special about stepping into the heat of a sauna while drifting through the heart of a city. Bristol feels like the ideal place to take our sauna boats next”.
Having launched in London with its flagship site at Canary Wharf, Skuna Boats has launched everything from floating hot tubs to igloo fondue boats on the capital’s waterways. But will it make as big a splash in Bristol? To book your session and learn more about Skuna Boats, head here.
