We’ve seen some odd things in Bristol, but we’ve never seen a house that’s been built on its head before. But at Bristol’s very own Upside Down House, which opened in February 2025, that’s changed. It’s been built on the iconic Harbourside, right next door to our science centre, We The Curious – which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
What is an Upside Down House?
Upside Down House is a unique museum of topsy-turvey illusions not only perfect for kids but adults too. The topsy-turvy attraction even transforms into a haunted house for Halloween and into a festive grotto at Christmas time. The very first Upside Down House in the UK was built in 2018, but there are now 11 houses open across the UK – including in Brighton, Liverpool and Bournemouth
“We are thrilled to be opening a brand new location in the heart of Bristol, and the only one in the South West!” said Alex Barbary, Associate Director at Upside Down House UK. “Bristol’s quirky blend of culture and entertainment makes it the perfect setting for our unique attraction.”
What does it look like?
As the only Upside Down House in the South West, it was been designed to uniquely reflect Bristol’s vibrant and lively culture – with a bold magenta exterior. Meanwhile, the interior features an open-plan layout, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in incredible, mind-bending photos!
Upside Down House is open Monday to Sunday, 10am to 8pm, with tickets from £6.45 per person. You can purchase yours online now or head to the ticket office outside. To learn more about Upside Down House head here.
