Would you quit the meat for £50k?
Last year saw some insane job vacancies emerge including a role as a bookseller in the Maldives, being in charge of Pompeii, as well as tasting chocolatey treats and festive food. And it doesn’t seem like things are letting up dream job wise in 2021. The question is how far are you willing to go for a job? Would you be willing to wave goodbye to beef burgers and fried chicken and go green for the position?

Plant-based subscription service Vibrant Vegan is on the lookout for the ‘UK’s biggest meat-eater’ to offer £50,000 in exchange for going vegan. The chosen meat-eater will sign a contract stating they will not consume any animals products for three months, while also encouraging others to give a vegan diet a go on social media.
The £50k job as a ‘Vegan Curious Coordinator’ (who doesn’t want that job name on their CV?) will involve eating Vibrant Vegan’s meals and sharing what they think and speaking to other meat-eaters about making the switch.
The lucky meat-eater will get an unlimited supply of Vibrant Vegan’s ready meals, and have a registered nutritionist on hand to help you plan meals, while a chef will also be available to help you adjust to your new meat-free diet. Not bad, eh?
However, at the end of the three month period, there will be a final test. Luckily, it’s not as daunting as those tests at school in the exam hall though. According to Vibrant Vegan, the Vegan Curious Coordinator will be given an ultimatum.
“If they decide that they have actually been enjoying their new diet and believe they can say goodbye to meat for the rest of 2021, we will offer them a lifetime supply of our meals (worth £100,000*), but only if they can prove this through continued social media posts and a food diary, ” said Vibrant Vegan.

The idea for the job role of Vegan Curious Coordinator came from a survey of 1,5000 people which found that 34% admitted to being ‘vegan curious’. Plus, Google Trends identified that vegan searches are now three times more frequent than in 2017, with searches peaking in Veganuary each year.
The founder of Vibrant Vegan, Ian Burke-Hamilton, said: “As we head into the New Year, we at Vibrant Vegan want to demonstrate not only the health and environmental benefits of being vegan that we hear so much about, but also highlight that vegan food can, and should, be enjoyed by everyone – even the UK’s biggest meat lover!
“We’re incredibly excited to hire our first Vegan Curious Coordinator and to watch them share their journey with people that love good food and are interested in a vegan lifestyle but perhaps feel it’s too much of a commitment or simply aren’t sure where to start.”
The successful applicant will get paid a pro-rata salary of £50,000 for the three-month period.
The job application process involves explaining why you would be the perfect candidate and how you could be an ambassador for Vibrant Vegan, as well as your weekly consumption of meat. The winning applicant will be selected on January 25th, with their vegan pledge starting on February 1st. If you know a meat-lover willing to give vegan a try, they can apply here.
