You could discuss it for hours, and yet you’d struggle to find a dish quite so warming, for both the soul and the body, than a plentiful bowl of ramen. Amid the chilly, more downbeat time of year we find ourselves in makes it the perfect January dish – particularly when it comes for free (that payday still seems far away).
Wagamama has recognised that very fact, and is offering bowls of ramen on the house across all their stores (aside from those within airport terminals) on what is reputed to be the gloomiest day of the entire year: Blue Monday.
Falling next week on January 20, Wagamama will be hoping to ease up those January worries by offering up free bowls of the slurpable good stuff, with 50 portions to give away at each spot in the UK. Operating on a first come, first served basis, the first people to turn up from 3pm onwards will be rewarded with a free portion of ramen – with a choice between the classic chicken ramen; the shirodashi pork belly ramen; or the new spicy plant-based dish called the firecracker chick’n ramen, which is made in collaboration with Alfie Steiner (Alfie Cooks) as part of Veganuary.
Speaking on the offer, Kay Bartlett, Wagamama’s Chief Marketing Officer, said: “January can feel like a tough start to the year, but at wagamama, we see it as an opportunity to spread warmth, give value to our guests, and showcase the versatility of everything we have to offer. Whether it’s giving back to frontline workers, or sharing moments of joy with our guests, we hope we can make January a little brighter for everyone.”
