Yes, Bill Murray. William James Murray. Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, The Royal Tenenbaums, Lost in Translation. THAT Bill Murray. He’s coming to Bristol. Just not as you may imagine.
A household name since 1979, few people know Bill Murray for his singing or love of literature. But it’s this boundless adoration for both that brings him to our hometown this summer – who’ll also be heading to Birmingham’s Symphony Hall on Wednesday, June 25.
The Hollywood star’s new show sees Murray sing and read American classics to the accompaniment of classically trained musicians – with the Chicago Tribune describing it as “a show no one else could have done.”
Part of just three UK dates, Bill Murray, alongside cellist Jan Vogler, pianist Vanessa Perez, and violinist Mira Wang, will bring their forthcoming ‘New Worlds’ tour to Bristol Beacon on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
‘New Worlds’ will showcase core American values in a show that bridges literature and music. Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway, Walt Whitman, James Fenimore Cooper, Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin and Stephen Foster are some of the influential American voices highlighted.
New Worlds: Bill Murray, Jan Vogler and Friends Vanessa Perez and Mira Wang will take place at Bristol Beacon on Tuesday 24 June at 7.30pm. Tickets, which are on sale now, start from £50.
