We can all agree that the return of the Bristol Becaon has been worth the wait. Returning with a bang late last year, the events space is only getting better this Friday (December 5) with the opening of its brand-new restaurant. Partnering closely with bespoke caterer Graysons, Colonnade is looking absolutely breathtaking too.
Sitting under the Bristol Byzantine arches of the original foyer, you’ll find a fresh take on modern European cuisine at the historic heart of the 19th Century concert hall. Colonnade is described as “a relaxed, contemporary restaurant, resplendent in the Bristol Byzantine style,” with even some of the original chandeliers reclaimed from the 1950s auditorium.
With a seasonal menu designed by Joshua Bebbington – who has worked at the likes of River Cottage and the Michelin-starred L’Escargot – Colonnade will seat diners throughout the day. Expect a range of modern European small to large plates using locally sourced ingredients. The ethos is consciously sustainable, with plentiful plant-based and low-carbon choices and a colourful seasonal children’s menu.
Homemade bar snacks and nibbles, hot and fresh from the Colonnade kitchen, for a quick bite, will also be available. Alongside the food, a of choice local spirits, beers, ciders and perries, alongside modern cocktails, in-house shrubs and ferments, plus a list of natural and classic wines, are on offer. Ticket holders to Bristol Beacon can claim a 10% discount at Colonnade until the end of January.
Don’t worry Bristol Loaf fans, the cafe will continue serving up pastries, coffee and lunch on the lower ground level. A new members’ bar, Goldings, reached from the Trenchard St entrance, will now serve as a stylish snug with a premium selection of pastries, cakes, daily kitchen specials, and curated speciality drinks. Elsewhere you’ll find two chic new bars in the venue, the Weston Stage, in the vaulted cellar, and Simons’ Bar, on the mezzanine above the restaurant.
