Whether you want a giant Douglas fir – often the most popular – to take up half your living room, or a small and sweet-smelling Norway spruce to sit cutely in the corner, we’ve got you covered. To fill that fir-shaped hole in your life this winter, these are the best places to buy a real Christmas tree in Bristol this year. Some of these also offer click-and-collect and other delivery options. Now just to find where we packed away the decorations from last year…
1. Frenchay Forestry
Frenchay Forestry has over 30 acres of Christmas tree plantation and an additional 70 acres of Beech woodland in the Mendips. Offering customers freshly-cut, locally-grown Christmas trees throughout the festive season. You can choose your Christmas tree from this Bristol forestry based on certain characteristics such as retention, bushiness and smell, as well as whether your tree will be based indoors or outdoors. 2. Ali and Joe’s
This small Bristol Christmas tree business has a number of pop-up locations around the city, including Victoria Park in Bedminster, The Tobacco Factory in Southville, as well as Beechen Cliff Methodist Church in Bath. The colour is not the only green thing about Ali and Joe’s Christmas trees, however. They are also sustainable and locally sourced.
They sell low-drop Christmas trees in sizes all the way up to 10ft tall and also offer potted trees to buy or rent. Not only are these trees kinder to the planet, but a proportion of Christmas tree sales go towards local Bristol charities. You’ll find them in the above locations, Saturday, Dec 2, Sunday, Dec 3, Saturday, Dec 9 and Sunday, Dec 10, from 10am-3:30pm on Saturdays, 10am-2:30pm on Sundays.
3. Frenchay Christmas Tree Farm
Also in Frenchay, is Frenchay Christmas Tree Farm and it is open up until Christmas Eve, as well as offering delivery and click & collect services. You can reserve a tree online and opt to have it delivered or collected from its site on Old Gloucester Road. However, if you fancy visiting this Christmas tree farm in Bristol and selecting the perfect one yourself.
There is a huge range of prices, the trees are individually labelled, and they are offering some reasonably-priced pre-cut trees upwards 0f £40. You’ll find Christmas tree classics like Norway spruces, Fraser firs and pot-grown trees. As well, you’ll find more unusual varieties like the Blue Spruce. The farm describes it as having “a beautiful, silvery blue-green hue” and that “this very fragrant Christmas tree is unlike any other.”

4. Sheepway Christmas Trees
The Sheepway Christmas Tree site is located near Portbury. It is run by the Hardwick family who is passionate about the trees they grow. Family member, John Hardwick, is the former chairman of the British Christmas Tree Growers Association and has grown fresh Christmas trees covering over 50 acres for just over 30 years. So, Sheepway sure knows how to grow and take care of Christmas trees.
The farm grows three varieties – Fraser Fir, Nordmann Fir and Norway Spruce – and all trees are cut down as late as possible in order to maximise needle retention. No one wants too many needles all over their presents, do they? The trees are delivered from their farm in the Quantock Hills to Sheepway and prices start from £20. There is also a click-and-collect service available.

5. Cleeve Nursery
Cleeve Nursery has a remarkable selection of cut fresh real Christmas trees near Bristol. From the traditional Norway Spruce with its characteristic forest scent to the needlefast non-drop types such as Fraser and Nordmann fir.
All of its trees are taken from renewable sources, and are ethically produced and locally grown. You can pre-order the tree of your dreams on the nursery’s website before collecting, or arranging for it to be delivered.
6. Bristol Christmas Trees
Bristol Christmas Trees want to put the magic back into Christmas tree shopping. Partnering with The Dame on Dean Lane, they’ll help you pick out the perfect real Christmas tree nearby. While you can enjoy a mulled wine or cider and roasted chestnuts in the pub garden.

7. Cadbury Garden Centre
You’ll find real, premium cut and pot-grown Christmas trees at Cadbury Garden Centre in Congresbury. The Christmas trees here are also sustainably sourced and there’s a wide range on offer to choose from guaranteed to last throughout the Christmas period.
Their trees are grown on Christmas tree farms, where a cut tree is replaced with at least one new tree and this year you can now take your tree home in a compostable bio netting. Tree prices range from £19.99 for a tree up to 5 feet tall to £97.99 for a tree up to 10 feet.

8. Cotswold Christmas Trees
Based in Yate, Cotswold Christmas Trees has been selling quality real Christmas trees in Bristol for over 20 years. There have three varieties available, the Norway Spruce, Nordman Fir and Noble Fir. They also have sites outside Morrisons in Bath and Chippenham.
