Tackling an all-you-can-eat buffet can feel more like an epic challenge than a relaxed dining experience. As you try to squeeze as much food out of your money while trying to sample every dish on the menu. (Our plate often looks like a mountainous mess of items that don’t quite go together…) But at COSMO, the sleek and stylish buffet by the Clifton Triangle, you’ll want to consider pacing yourself to enjoy every second.
Sleek and stylish, COSMO appears a cut above your average buffet based on the dazzling decor alone: wood-panelled floorings, cream-coloured seating, exposed brick, soft lighting and a general clean design sets a cultured tone. And while we’re not trying to convince you this is some Michelin-starred fine dining experience. You might be surprised by the sophistication on display.
Of course, as at every buffet, the food should be the main attraction and COSMO’s menu does not miss. You’re free to travel a world of cuisines meaning there’s something to satisfy everyone in your friendship group. There are over 150 dishes to sample (yes, we said 80 in the headline but only for the punchline) from Italy to 6,565 km away in India. Plus every in between and beyond.
European specialities like spaghetti meatballs, moussaka or shepherd’s pie all hit the spot for comfort foods. While you can also help yourself to the roast dinner carvery served all week and not just Sundays!
But our insider’s tip has to be COSMO’s trip to the vast continent of Asia. Be it the vast array of vegetarian and meaty curries from India, addictively moreish Chinese dishes like the crispy chilli beef or duck rolls, while the sushi station was a fresh surprise! (Our only major negative was the pizza, which looked and tasted no better than a frozen own-brand supermarket purchase.)
Cranking the heat up on the experience – and essentially solidifying COSMO’s unique status – is the teppanyaki station. Utilising a Japanese style of cooking, COSMO’s talented chefs will cook up the likes of salmon, scallops, steak, prawns and more on a hot griddle in front of your very eyes. It’s a unique, hair-raising sight that you’ll struggle to find elsewhere in Bristol…
After all that food, just make sure to save some room for pudding. We probably helped ourselves to as many plates of bite-sized red velvet cake as anything else. But you’ll find everything from strawberry cheesecake to traditional Italian tiramisu and a chocolate fountain here. Set prices for unlimited courses vary depending on time and date but range from about £15.99 to £20.99 per person.
