Serving up Sunday lunch to the family is enough stress for us once in a blue moon, but can you imagine cooking roast dinner for a whole cafe of people each weekend? Well that’s what Babs Greaves does, while winning awards for it too! The vegan eatery, Eat Your Greens in Totterdown, has become a must-try on a Sunday for all. (Whether you’re vegan or not.)
Eat Your Greens will have been open for five years next month. A light and airy atmosphere, serving fresh and vibrant food, it still feels like a breath of fresh air among Bristol’s cafes. And, while the city’s vegan restaurant scene has boomed since 2018, this award-winning cafe still stands among its best. Everything is 100% vegan (and gluten-free, unless otherwise stated)!
If you’re after a big hearty vegan breakfast on Friday or Saturday then there are some signature dishes you have to try. The Beasty Breakfast has everything you expect: sausages, garlic mushrooms, scrambled tofu, hash browns, baked beans, sauteed greens, roast tomatoes, and toast. While the Goldie Lox comes with carrot, seaweed caviar, baked marinated tofu, rocket, and avocado on sourdough toast. You could also grab a stack of waffles or a simple burger (all plant-based, of course).
If you fancy pushing the boat just a little, we recommend trying the oyster mushroom tempura. But it’s the regular Friday Supper Club where Babs’ cooking skills are pushed to the limits: expect anything from King oyster scallops to vegan cheese-stuffed courgette flowers, tempeh with mole sauce to polenta puffs. It also serves a range of cakes and smoothies too.
If none of that has convinced you already, then you must book in for the Sunday lunch. It’s not only one of the best vegan roasts in Bristol, but one of the best roast dinners full stop. Book yours in by heading here. Oh, it’s dog-friendly too!
