Boy, do we feel blessed to have Westonbirt Arboretum on our doorstep? The National Arboretum is home to 2,500 different species of trees from across the world! From the budding flowers of spring to the orange fallen leaves of autumn, the changing seasons make it a wonderful day trip that we keep returning to.
But the festive season is our favourite time to visit Westonbirt. Because it means the return of Enchanted Christmas. At this magical time of year, the arboretum lights up (quite literally) with festive cheer thanks to this Christmas light trail. Now in its 17th year, prepare to be dazzled by illuminated trees and mesmerising installations.
Taking place after dark, between 4pm and 9.30pm on select days, the surrounding landscape will be filled with sparkling lights, festive sounds, and illuminations. Expect the arboretum’s variety of trees to glow up in a variety of ways for a truly special sight you won’t experience for the rest of the year. The mile-long trail will also feature several interactive features for you to get involved with.
Enchanted Christmas will start on November 24 and run every Friday and Saturday until Christmas. With standard tickets costing £21 per person, £14 for children. Before you wander through the lit-up Old Arboretum, arrive anytime before your slot to visit Christmas Village. Here you can soak up some seasonal cheer with festive food and drink stalls and traditional fairground rides.
Relaxed sessions will also take place on November 25 and December 2, from 4pm to 5pm. Adapted to suit those with additional needs, strong flashing lights, loud sound effects and smoke effects will be temporarily deactivated. To add to festive feeling Westonbirt is also running Christmas wreath workshops on December 3, 6 and 10.
