Few restaurants have taken me aback quite like The Botanist in Bath. On the corner of Milsom Street and Green Street, at the heart of this three-floor eatery, is a ginormous tree ‘growing’ out of a one-of-a-kind octagonal bar lit up by gentle lighting in a stunning Georgian setting—it’ll take your breathaway!
Elsewhere, discover a secluded sun terrace, semi-private conservatory-style dining room, and speakeasy-style basement in the Grade II* listed building, all regularly soundtracked by live acoustic music every weekend. That’s before we even delve into a menu of botanical-inspired cocktails and famous hanging kebabs.
Whether you’re after a relaxed after-work drinks—with an extensive range of draught beers, cocktails and wines—trying to impress on a date in a vibrant restaurant serving seasonal dishes, or looking for a touch of glamour in your very own private dining room, The Botanist can do it all.
So, where better to set “the world’s most romantic restaurant”? After previously filming in London’s Paternoster Chop House and Manchester’s The Refinery Spinningfields, Channel 4’s ‘First Dates’ moved to Bath in 2024 and made The Botanist its new home of love.

Now, the BAFTA award-winning documentary series is looking for singletons for its 12th anniversary.
