Houseplants are scientifically proven to improve mood, reduce stress and increase productivity. So why aren’t there more places like Bristol’s The Garden of Easton? Plants fill every corner of the eatery, dangle overhead, and even the outside walls are wild with flora.
Located on St Marks Road in Easton, there’s greenery growing everywhere at this independent kitchen – with rustic decor and a relaxed atmosphere to boot. Swing by in the day for one of Bristol’s very best brunch spots. You’ll find everything from a full English breakfast to more unique servings of spicy Turkish eggs and Japanese okonomiyaki pancakes.
If that wasn’t enough, The Garden of Easton serves a range of sandwiches, cakes, coffees, smoothies, and even cocktails in this sunlit spot – with sunshine often beaming through the skylights. In the evening, the plant-filled destination is transformed into a tapas-style small plates restaurant, however, with a selection of wines, house cocktails and local beers and ciders on offer.
An eclectic, often Middle Eastern-cum-Mediterranean-inspired menu, although not limited to, ranges from crispy pressed pork belly (with parsnip purée, Spanish pickled mushrooms and garlic crisp) to pan-fried sea bass (with chorizo and white bean stew and mojo verde) and charred tenderstem broccoli (with whipped coriander tahini and chilli garlic seed dressing).
Everything on the menu is designed to celebrate locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, so expect it to change regularly. One thing you can guarantee every time, however, is a wild and green dining experience that you can’t find elsewhere in Bristol – I mean, there’s literally a garden growing inside!
Only a four-minute walk from Stapleton Road station (and around the corner from our favourite shop in Bristol, Bristol Sweet Mart), there’s no excuse not to add The Garden of Easton to your dining-out list. Unwind in this indoor garden, and soak up the plant-packed prettiness with a banging’ brunch too!
