From St Philip’s Marsh to Bedminster, and beyond, Bristol loves its beer. The city is brimming with some of the best independent breweries in Britain. But there’s only one that can call itself the very best brewery in the UK.
Lost and Grounded, based in St Anne’s, has been crowned the best UK brewery at the Brewers Congress Brewing Awards 2022. Beating off fierce competition from Leed’s North Brewing Co and Brew York. It wasn’t the only award the Bristol brewery took home either. Lost & Grounded also won Beer of the Year.
Helles is described as “gentle and balanced,” as well as “soft, bready, floral.” It uses the same pilsner malt blend as Lost and Grounded’s signature Keller Pils and is gently hopped with Magnum, Perle and Tettnang. If you want to sample Britain’s best beer, you’ll happily find it stocked in pubs and shops across Bristol. But can also be bought here.
“Very proud of the entire team,” tweeted Lost and Grounded co-founder, Alex Troncoso. “And also great to see a lager win beer of the year that we essentially developed on the back of a beer mat.
Lost and Grounded brewery established itself in July 2016, so these two wins are quite an achievement. Blending the precision of German brewing and the idiosyncratic nature of Belgian beers, all its beers are unfiltered and vegan friendly.
Head down to the Taproom this Friday and Saturday (December 16 & 17) before is closes over Christmas. If you can’t, you’ll have to wait until January 13 for it to open again. To learn more head here.
