The pandemic claimed too many great businesses. One of which was Pata Negra, a much-loved Spanish tapas restaurant from the Clifton-based speakeasy, Hyde & Co. Opened in 2015, it was the go-to place for authentic Spanish tapas in the city centre at the time. Before closing in 2020 and later being replaced by the pan-Asian diner, Four Wise Monkeys.
But it appears Pata Negra will be making a comeback this autumn. At least for the short-term anyway, with a six-week pop-up at Bambalan – another of the Hyde & Co group’s establishments, alongside restaurants like The Ox and Flour & Ash, and cocktail bars like The Milk Thistle and The Raven. And we cannot wait!
Launching October 13 for six weeks only, the team will bring a slice of authentic Spain to the restaurant and bar. The Pata Negra pop-up will offer all-day dining, as well as take-away bocadillos at lunchtime and a selection of Spanish wine, sherry and cocktails. To celebrate, the Hyde & Co Group will throw some extra special ticketed events on November 2 and 16, with further details released soon.
Expect cult favourites to also return. Including sobrasada with a crispy soft-boiled egg, manchego and honey, jamón ibérico croquetas and patatas bravas with aioli picante, as well as plenty of delicious new dishes, including tapas sharing feast for £30pp. Open from 12pm-10pm, seven days a week, there’s going to be no excuse to miss this one!
Speaking on the return of Pata Negra, founder Nathan Lee said: “We know a lot of people were sad to say goodbye to Pata Negra when it closed, so to be able to bring it back and share it with everyone again is really special. We’ve got all the Pata classics on the menu as well as lots of new dishes and I’m particularly looking forward to our jamon and sherry evening so I can forget I’m in cold old England and be transported to sunny Spain once again!”
