Popeyes’ famous chicken sandwich proved so popular when it launched in the US, it had customers queueing around the block, celebrities posting about it, and it even sold out at some locations. Now, many years later, Bristol can finally find out what the fuss was all about when the Louisiana chicken chain comes to the South West of England.
Located in Avonmeads Retail Park, the brand-new fast-food restaurant marks the brand’s 11th UK opening this year, and the chain’s 76th opening since on these shores in November 2021. And it’s bringing fan-favourites like the internet-breaking Chicken Sandwich, Tenders, and Signature Chicken Wraps along with it.

Following the success of our existing restaurants around the UK, bringing Popeyes to Bristol’s vibrant food scene has been a top priority for us, and we’re confident that our new restaurant will be just as popular.”
What makes Popeyes’ chicken so beloved?
Founded in New Orleans in 1972, Popeyes is now one of the world’s largest chicken fast-food restaurants – with more than 4,000 restaurants globally. Popeyes’ legendary chicken is marinated for 12 hours on-site in “bold Louisiana seasoning”, then hand-breaded and battered for its “signature ‘Shatter Crunch’” – and it’s only made better served with extras like American biscuits and Cajun gravy.
What else is on the menu?
The brand-new Saucin’ Boneless and Hot Wings range will be available, featuring New Orleans-inspired flavours: Garlic Parm, BBQ, and Buffalo. Each portion features a “whole lotta sauce” smothered over spicy hot wings or boneless chicken pieces. Bristol will also open with Popeyes Breakfast menu, available 8am until 11am every day. The ‘Brekkie’ menu consists of British breakfast classics with a New Orleans twist, including breakfast rolls, muffins, biscuits and Cajun Hash Browns.
Popeyes will open in Bristol on Friday, April 11 at 11 am. The first four people in the pedestrian queue and the first four vehicles in the designated ‘Park & Serve’ bays will receive the ultimate prize of free Chicken Sandwiches for a YEAR The Popeyes Chicken Sandwich will also be handed out for free to the first 100 customers in the queue, and exclusive merchandise on the day. Queues are expected to start early, with past openings seeing eager chicken-lovers lining up as much as 24 hours in advance!
