You won’t need to travel far to find a pumpkin patch in Bristol. It looks like the whole city is on the cusp of going jack-o-lantern mad with the amount available to us – that, or, we’re all just really, really craving pumpkin pies this Harvest season. But it looks like one more, brand-new pumpkin patch has planted itself on Bath Road.
Unlike many PYO pumpkin patches in the area, however, Picking Patch is free to visit. You’ll find over 20 varieties of pumpkins for you to pick on your visit – from the Polar Bear to the Goosebump and even the cute Casparita and Munchkins (yes that’s what they’re all really called…) And you’ll only pay for what you pick.
You’ll also find bespoke photo opportunities from the Pumpkin Carriage to a genuine Witch’s House. Head down on October 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20 and 25-31 (between 9.30am-5pm) to pick up your pumpkins this Halloween – which you’ll find at Glenavon Farm (opposite Flourish Farm Shop), about halfway between Keynsham and Saltford.
But that’s not all there is at Picking Patch. Keep your wits about you as you wind your way through the Murder Mystery Halloween Maze, solving the puzzles to eliminate suspects and find the criminal. Pick between the Junior Sleuth’s trail or the more difficult, family-orientated Detectives Maze. There’s also a culinary-themed Escape Room with some grim Halloween twists (both require tickets).
Picking Patch will be also hosting weekly Twilight evenings, where, if you’re brave
enough, you can enjoy getting lost in the maze by torchlight. On October 12, 19 and 26, Picking Patch will be open for PYO Pumpkins, hot food, marshmallow toasting and hot chocolates from 6pm-8pm. Entry to the Twilight Maze is only available with pre-booked tickets, which you can get here.
