Boasting the best sunsets in the West Country, a cherished Victorian pier, and its own seawater swimming lake, there are plenty of reasons to visit Clevedon year-round. But, this Christmas, the seaside town, a stone’s throw away from Bristol, is a must-visit for festivities.
This weekend (Saturday, December 6), Light Up The Lake returns to, well, light up the Clevedon Marine Lake. The annual fundraising event sees hundreds of lights illuminate and celebrate the one-of-a-kind outdoor swimming spot—with the festivities kicking off at 4pm at the Clevedon Pier.
A samba band will lead a huge lantern procession from the pier to the lake, and you can even bring along your own handmade lanterns. Then, enjoy a performance from the Rock Choir, marvel at the mesmerising fire dancers, and pick up gifts and refreshments from the market stalls.
What else is happening this Christmas in Clevedon?

Light Up The Lake is just one of a handful of eventful Christmassy evenings in Celvedon coming up. Head down on Friday (December 5), for Light Up The Pier and a festive evening of lights by the sea (5 to 8pm), with music performances, fish ‘n’ chips and plenty of refreshments.
Then, next week on Thursday, December 11, Clevedon Community Centre is hosting its very own Santa’s Grotto (£11.50 per child), where you can meet the man himself, do some Xmas crafting and receive a gift. And on Friday, December 19, locals sing seasonal songs with the Clevedon Salvation Army Brass Band for Carols on the Pier.
