Christmas is defined by our memories of it growing up. The buzz of presents being wrapped, the promise of food cooking, the joy of the decorations going up. All that excitement stems from our childhoods. This is why the world’s first amazement park is tapping into the nostalgia of festivities this Christmas – with a Wake The Tiger twist, of course.
Known for its immersive experiences, the art park will combine retro charm, childhood memories and mind-bending surrealism for Christmas. RETRO-MEGA-MAS, which will run from November 9 to January 5, will include a diverse array of sentimental installations. Such as toy cars queuing to enter, a room filled with giant Rubik’s Cubes and an invasion of ‘80s slushy maker, Mr. Frosty.
One of the major attractions at RETRO-MEGA-MAS is the inclusion of robots created by artist Giles Walker. These festive androids will entertain visitors with acapella performances of holiday classics, such as ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ and ‘Run Run Rudolph’. Helping to make this a Christmas to remember “just like the ones I used to know…”
Wake The Tiger says, “These blast-from-the-past touches are designed to evoke the joy of childhood Christmases while offering a fresh, creative perspective.” Visitors will also encounter a magical pile of nostalgic toys, hidden dinosaurs watching television, a shopping trolley balanced on the roof with teddy bears and Quality Street being sucked up into the OUTERverse.
Why not do some Christmas chipping while you’re here? For those looking for unique gifts, the Curiosity Shop will offer a range of locally sourced trinkets, art and crystals for one-of-a-kind presents. Plus, Wake The Tiger is offering a 20% discount for tickets to RETRO-MEGA-MAS, purchased at least 48 hours in advance.
