From kits to fresh pancakes to your door.

Lockdown or not, Pancake Day is on its way and it’s not going to stop us from eating our weight in pancakes. Luckily, despite restaurants being closed for dine-in, you can enjoy a stack or two of pancakes from some of these Bristol cafés and restaurants either delivered to your door or via click and collect. Whether you’re after fluffy, American-style pancakes or thin, crispy-edged crêpes, this pancake round-up has them all.

1. Boston Tea Party

Brunch might not be the same right now but Boston Tea Party is still here to bring you your brunch fix of pancakes. Their Gloucester Road branch remains open for deliveries and takeaway during lockdown for you to enjoy a stack. Choose from American pancakes with either smoked bacon, maple syrup and maple butter or blueberry compote and Greek yoghurt. Boston Tea Party also recently revealed their pancake recipe on Instagram, so you can recreate the luxury breakfast staple for yourself. Lockdown can take us away from brunch, but it can’t take the brunch out of us. Order your Boston Tea Party pancakes here.

2. Chez Marcel

Gorgeously-filled galettes are all the rage in the France, especially on the west coast of the country, and it seems they are a winner at Chez Marcel on Broad Street too. This little Bristol café is offering these pancakes with exciting fillings such as caramelised onions, smoked sausage and cheese, as well as the classic Brittany galette of ham, cheese and egg. Chez Marcel’s galettes are a great solution for those looking to enjoy Pancake Day with a twist and are more in favour of savoury fillings rather than sweet. Plus, there are four vegan galettes to choose from made using buckwheat flour. Their galettes are available for takeaway and orders are placed at their café.

3. At The Well

Up in Stokes Croft is At The Well, which is the perfect place for all your dessert (and washing) needs. At The Well still remain open for laundry services but sadly won’t be serving their delicious pancakes this year. However, the café is posting inspirational toppings for you all to try at home and recreate their own recipes for yourself. Sadly, for now we’ll be counting down the days until we can eat a plateful of their banoffee pie pancakes.

4. Aah Toots

The beautiful cake shop up on Christmas Steps is offering all bakers their baking provision boxes which are perfect for making your own pancakes at home. The box includes flour, eggs, caster sugar, butter and icing sugar. Simply order some milk and whatever toppings you desire and you’ve got yourself a great day of rustling up some pancakes thanks to this Bristol bakery.  You can order you baking provision box from Aah Toots here.

5. Little Kitchen

Bristol cookery school, Little Kitchen, has jumped on the DIY kit hype and you can create your very own pancakes this Pancake Day. For £10 you can make fluffy lemon and ricotta pancakes from scratch using their pancake mix and follow their recipe. Each pancake DIY kit includes all the ingredients you need to make the lightest pancakes ver and you can order yours here to collect in store. If you’re unable to get hold of a kit, don’t worry as Little Kitchen has plenty more classes on offer to create delicious meals from.
