Beigel Bake is London’s legendary, 24-hour bagel shop that’s been serving traditional Jewish-style beigels on Brick Lane since 1974—think salt beef and pickles or smoked salmon and cream cheese. There’s no shame in finishing second to this iconic sandwich spot, but we wouldn’t bet against Sandwich Sandwich next time.
In the hunt for the UK’s most popular sandwich shops, Betway ranked 80 of the country’s favourite sandwich spots using Google review ratings, Instagram hashtag volume, and annual Google search volume. Sandwich Sandwich came a close second behind Beigel Bake, followed in third by The Black Pig in London’s Borough Market.
With locations in Bristol and London, Sandwich Sandwich had over one million searches per year (only Beigel Bake had higher, and no one else came close) and a 4.5 Google review rating. Unfortunately, it had a fairly average Instagram volume of 1,642 hashtags, which likely kept it off the top spot!
Tell me more about Sandwich Sandwich…

Sandwich Sandwich changed the sarnie game when it opened its first store in Bristol in 2010. With a huge amount of fresh fillings to choose from, jam-packed between two thick slices of bread, lunchtime has never been the same since in Bristol—with everything from hot pastrami and hoisin pulled pork to spicy vegan chicken and posh ham and cheese.
In 2023, it was even crowned UberEats’ Restaurant of the Year, before opening its first London location and later adding a second. Earlier this year, the family-owned business announced plans to open a further 17 stores across the capital in the next three years. So expect Sandwich Sandwich to take the top spot very soon as the UK’s favourite sandwich shop.
You can find Sandwich Sandwich in Bristol on Baldwin Street and Queens Road.
