Tove Jansson’s Moomins are among the most recognisable cartoon characters in the world. Appearing in books, comic strips, TV shows and movies, as well as on countless memorabilia, since their creation in 1945, they’re still beloved by many children (and many adults) today.
That’s why I’m certain you’re as excited as I am by the match-up between Bristol’s cult-favourite boba tea house and the timeless charm of the Moomins. CUPP, known for its premium boba tea, has transformed on Park Row into an immersive new store. Promising a one-of-a-kind experience for boba tea lovers and Moomin fans alike, this is the UK’s first-ever Moomin-themed boba house.
Expect an adorable, immersive, photo-ready space inspired by the magical world of Moominvalley, alongside a limited-edition menu featuring boboa tea and pancakes with flavours and scenes straight from the storybooks. On the menu, you can see everything from Snorkmaiden’s Cherry Blossom Milk Tea and Snufkin’s Foraged Berry Lemonade to Moominmamma’s Maple Pancakes. Additionally, CUPP will be selling a wide range of Moomin merchandise, including tote bags, plush toys, key rings, and more.
“We’re passionate about quality ingredients and traditional methods, something we will always push for our brand and bubble tea in general – creating this Moomin-themed menu was no different, we wanted it to feel thought out and special – it’s been a lot of fun!” said Moomin Brand Director, Angharad Jackson.
What is CUPP?
Born in Bristol in 2012, after founder Lee Peacock returned from Taiwan, CUPP was initially launched from a small converted Citroen H van. Serving premium boba tea to the local communities and festivals alike, it now has 38 stores across the UK and Northern Ireland. Using premium milk, fresh fruit puree, house-made brown sugar syrups and high-quality loose-leaf tea, expect only the best boba tea.
